Honest cabbie finds purse and returns $42,000

Washington AP reports cab driver William Taylor Sr. found a brown suede purse containing nearly 42,000 in cash travelers checks and jewelry. He turned it in to police. the purse owner Dollie Cole offered a $10,000 reward and possible chauffeur position worth 18,000 a year, echoing the driver’s long standing ethic of returning lost items.

Louisiana Eyes Unusual Saturday Delegate Primary

Louisiana voters face a first of its kind party only vote to select 32 Democratic delegates for the national convention. A San Francisco federal indictment charges TT Industries Inc of Sunnyvale and three officers plus three West German nationals with conspiring to export $3 million in advanced electronics manufacturing equipment to the Soviet Union between 1975 and 1977. McClure dies after pugil stick bout injury in training

Unconscious Navy man McClure is said to have been beaten into a vegetable after a padded pugil stick bout during a close combat exercise. He underwent emergency brain surgery in San Diego and died March 13 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston. A court martial was ordered for Capt. C Taylor over alleged neglect and poor oversight.
