Hon. John Francis Amherst Cecil resigns from the British diplomatic service to marry Cornelia Vanderbilt in Asheville North Carolina. The couple plans a European honeymoon and then reside at Biltmore House where Cecil will help manage her real estate. Cecil has served since 1913 and held key posts in Washington Cairo Madrid and more. He is the third son of Lord William Cecil and the late Baroness Amherst.
April 29 report from Pine Island in Caddo parish says Paacal Byers, son of Mr and Mrs Al Byers, was killed when struck on the head by a thrown ball during a baseball game as he ran toward second base.
Warren T. McCray, Indiana governor, resigned after a federal court conviction for using the mails in a defraud scheme. Emmett F. Branch becomes governor at 10 tomorrow.
