New Louisiana Gynecology Society Elects Officers at Annual Meet
New officers named for the Louisiana State Gynecological and Obstetrical Society at its annual gathering with the Louisiana State Medical Society in Monroe. E L King of New Orleans is president. Armand McHenry of Monroe vice president. H Alsebrook of New Orleans secretary. A fish fry at Bayou Desiard hosted by Mrs. Bendel Snellings Hirsch and McHenry followed the banquet. The program featured papers by W L Bendel Mays Pratt and others on topics from leukemia to hypothyroidism and end endocrine disorders in the female reproductive tract. Dr Peter Graffagnino presided.

Negro logger hurt as car hits truck near Monroe
Rochell Cole a 31 year old Negro logger was seriously injured on the Farmerville road eight miles west of Monroe. He was taken to St. Francis sanitarium with a badly fractured leg. Cole says Mrs. D H Clark of Farmerville tried to pass his wood truck on loose gravel causing her car to crash into it and push the truck into a ditch.

Family deportation over poverty shocks New York court
Cecilia Louis Carl and Mary Benedetti photographed aboard the train deported from New York under court order after their father Anthony Benedetti was found guilty of poverty. The family was sent back to Fayette County Pennsylvania where Benedetti had worked as a miner. It is believed the first case of a family being deported across state lines for economic reasons.

Social Security aids many in Louisiana under act
More than 305,000 Louisiana residents benefit from the social security act with nine of its ten provisions in effect. About 212,000 are covered by unemployment compensation, 33,300 get public assistance, and 271,123 have applied for old age benefits. Louisiana has eight approved plans, plus ongoing federal grants totaling over 1.1 million dollars for various programs, with offices set up in New Orleans, Shreveport and others planned.

Dog Becomes Victim of Local Reptile Attacks
A resident reported a dog killed by a dangerous snake on the south side after barking persisted. A boy then brought the dog's collar and tag, noting the canine’s death and the reptile’s suspected role in multiple canine fatalities in the area.
WPA Bookbinding Official Visits Monroe Inspection
Mrs. Jay Gill of New Orleans, supervisor of the state-wide WPA bookbinding project, toured Monroe to inspect Ouachita parish work. The program employs about 35 men and women under Mrs. Audrey Beasley, rebinds and cleans school texts and library volumes, with roughly 2000 books rebuilt this year in Ouachita, saving schools and libraries.
