AP reports from Ferriday and nearby parishes describe a widening levee breach at Weecama crevasse and vast floodwaters covering Concordia and Catahoula. Rescue boats evacuate hundreds marooned along with livestock and belongings as 500 refugees gather in Natchez and totals rise toward a thousand.
The Louisiana Bar Association schedules its annual convention for May 5 6 in Monroe. Activities include sessions on the roof garden of the Ouachita National Bank building with receptions luncheons and a banquet plus a post conference train departure to New Orleans.

Genoa April 28 delegates in the Genoa conference sub commission on Russian affairs prepared a draft of allied powers financial proposals to Soviet Russia. The document explains what the powers are prepared to give and what they require in return to end uncertainty on the Russian question. Paris reports a divergence with the French government as Louis Barthou seeks two days in Paris to confer on the situation.
Alexander Howat former president of the Kansas miners union began a one year sentence in Crawford county jail at Girard for contempt of court tied to the strike. His imprisonment follows his deposition from the union leadership.

Planters and business men of Ouachita parish answered Mayor Arnold Bernstein’s call to aid Mississippi levees. At a City Hall meeting they pledged 100 extra men for levee work from Arkansas City to the Louisiana line.
