New Orleans April 27 The Times Picayune reports William Randolph Hearst argues Wilson’s peace policy boosted the Democratic administration but masked earlier flaws Hearst predicts Wilson will be renominated if he desires The Republican split between progressives and reactionaries poses difficulty as old line Republicans may push a reactionary candidate amid rising social unrest and unemployment.
Mr Hearst criticizes legislative ignorance while praising reforms and criticizes many country theories. He says politics hold little appeal beyond the newspaper vantage, aims to keep in touch with events to protect public interests through his paper. He declines entering New Orleans politics. He approves the Times-Democrat and Picayune consolidation as a strong, wiser move.
The Southern Minstrels under Mr. D. T. Miles present a benefit show at City School Auditorium on Wednesday night to help contest costs for the State rally in Baton Rouge Friday and Saturday. Admission is ten cents. the event aims to fill the auditorium for a worthy cause.

New Orleans April 27 Judge Theard refuses to compel Henry Bernstein to appear before the probe commission or produce books in the Tensas Delta land case. He holds civil district courts cannot be enlarged by statute to enforce such orders or compel witnesses. The probe commission will seek the attorney general’s appeal to the Supreme Court.
Local committee of ladies asks Shriners wives to submit names tonight for the Riverside Club banquet on Wednesday at 7 pm. Those not registered will be barred. Committee members include Mesdames G. P. Stubbs R. Downes Jr H. D. Apgar Sig Haas and W. M. Washburn.

Slayer of Two Women. Newark New Jersey April 26. Trial set for today of Hiram E. Craig a salesman charged with the murder of two women Miss Hattie Reeve and Mrs Mary Clark his landlady. Craig was found wounded beside the bodies on Feb 20. Jealousy named as motive and it is believed he attempted death by his own hand.
The International League starts with Richmond's season opener today as Toronto visits to duel the Virginians. Toronto trained at Durham North Carolina ahead of the international circuit tilt in Richmond, Virginia.
