New Orleans April 26 Lionel Bourgeois superintendent of Orleans parish schools clashed with a board member who called him a liar and charged unworthiness in office during an electric board meeting. Dr Clarence Scheps said Bourgeois gave misleading statements to papers about a prior board action and urged a reprimand be placed on the formal record.
Hollywood April 26 Margaret Truman begins professional acting in Jackpot on Screen Directors Playhouse NBC 10 p.m. 12 ET She rehearsed since Monday and ensured script avoids any satire of her father with changes to a character name and a scene involving General MacArthur.

A 51 year old Rayville man, John Richard Mains, was killed when his 1950 Chevrolet crashed into two trees on US 80 four miles east of Rayville. He was a salesman for American Snuff Co. and left his home to fetch an order book in Holly Ridge. He is survived by his wife La rue and son Richard Mains. Funeral plans were not yet released.
