National Federation of YMCA Club Members Meet in Monroe
The National Federation of Young Men's clubs gathers at the Three Mile Inn Monroe for a day of business sessions a banquet and a tea dance. About 175 members from Shreveport Alexandria Opelousas Lake Charles Baton Rouge and Monroe attend led by Dr Joseph S Delia and officers including Philip Lisotta Charles Cina and George Guerriero. The Blue Night orchestra provides music with a six act floor show. invited dignitaries include Mayor Arnold Bernstein and several judges and officials. The federation plans its annual Opelousas convention in September.

Louisiana Job Placements Fall in Ouachita Parish
The Louisiana state employment service reported 122 placements in Ouachita parish for March, with 99 in private industry and 13 in public works. Comparisons show March 1936 had 62 placements, 36 private and 26 public. Overall, 2,003 workers were placed in March statewide, up 336 from February and 533 from March last year, totaling about 55,078 placements in two years.

Tablet to memorialize reforestation leader
A memorial tablet will be dedicated at Urania to honor Henry E. Hardtner noted as the father of reforestation in America. The American Society of Foresters led by Yale’s H. H. Chapman will unveil the tribute, with 14 Yale forestry students stationed at the Urania camp. Hardtner donated the camp site in 1917 and began reforestation on his lands about 30 years before his death in a car train collision near Baton Rouge.
