Preparations begin for high water in Rayville with a six mile levee line to encircle the city a plan to protect against a flood expected next Monday. Officials estimate two to four feet of water in low parts while cattle move to higher ground and public funds cover about six thousand dollars for the levee effort.
Clarence Raley, 34, former automobile salesman, swallowed a bichloride of mercury tablet Saturday night after a spell of confinement anxiety. He was taken to St Francis sanitarium and was resting but not out of danger. Raley had prior arrests and a judge set a $1000 peace bond after fines totaling 175 days. he was jailed again after a parole violation and alleged drunken disorder.

W T Chenault a 25 year old soda dispenser for Marbury Drug in Ruston drank carbolic acid at 9 45 am and died twenty minutes later in a doctor's office after being found in a stupor. He leaves a sister Mrs R T Etzell and a brother C C Chenault of Homer. Chenault had worked four years for Marbury Drug and was described as popular and temperamental with no clear reason for the act.
