Radio reports from WOC Davenport indicate the Goodyear Tire balloon passed Volga near Davenport around 11 o clock in the morning traveling northwest. Army entry balloon S 14 from San Antonio, piloted by Major Norman W Peek with Lieut W A Gray as co pilot, landed seven miles south of Stansgar near the Minnesota line at 2 am today.
Four of seven balloons from Kelly Field were last sighted over Northwest Missouri aiming for the Great Lakes as storms threatened. Army No. 2 commanded by Cap tain E W Hill landed at Moline Kansas after an electrical storm. Army No. 3 piloted by Lieutenant Ashley McKinley and the San Antonio entry led by B H Fournier were wrecked in Oklahoma. The race remaining entries include Captain H F Honeywell in the Kansas City Co op Club “Honeywell” and other pilots in the Detroit Aviation Society “Detroit” and “Goodyear third.”
Richard Gilliard a 22 year old Black man was hanged in Caddo jail at noon for the murder of Stewart Broadus. In a signed confession he said robbery was the motive and he faced the execution unflinching while smoking a cigarette moments before the cap was placed.
In New York on April 25 a score of shorts in old crop months pushed cotton prices up 71 to 81 points as deliveries slackened. May contracts rose to 30.42 and July to 28.81 while new crop positions followed with about 25 point gains.
District Attorney David I. Garrett will meet with Attorney General A. V. Coco in New Orleans to discuss the disposition of cases against carbon manufacturers charged by the Department of Conservation with over production. The Monday court docket cases will be postponed until Garrett’s return. The conference will cover the state’s case and possible prosecutorial procedures with the defendants’ lawyers having no indicated plea at this time.
In Chicago on April 25 a hunt continues for Wanda Elaine Stopa a young woman lawyer and former assistant U S district attorney linked to the killing of a caretaker at Y Kenley Smith’s home. Smith a wealthy ad man had been the target of her infatuation and authorities believe she fled to New York with her ex husband Vladimir Glaskoff.
Overnight advices to the state departments reported no American casualties at Tegucigalpa Honduras. Officials noted the unsettled conditions and cautioned that exaggerated rumors could cross borders from San Salvador. The United States invited Costa Rica El Salvador Nicaragua and Guatemala to a peace ploy in Amapala Honduras.
In Ouachita County Arkansas a sheriff squad led by Deputy Prosecutor W K Oldham raided Emmett Hicks residence 12 miles south of Camden and seized two 50 gallon stills after six hogs wandered intoxicated from mash. Hicks and three Black men were jailed charged with operating a still.
Executive committee of the Proposed Tensas Basin Drainage District met at Rayville on April 23 to advance plans for an adequate drainage system between Bayou Macon and the Ouachita river. The group urged an immediate state engineers survey to define district limits, method, and cost, as it seeks a comprehensive drainage program for North Louisiana.

The $100,000 Norma Talmadge mansion, once home to Roscoe Arbuckle, has been sold to Mrs. R. L. Doheny Jr. The property adjoins the Doheny estate in Los Angeles, per the Los Angeles Examiner.

The plans call for nations from around the globe to attend, with the event to surpass any prior permanent exposition in the United States.
In Granite City Illinois on April 25 bandits held up T D Gradinaroff assistant cashier of the Granite City National Bank stealing 63000 dollars in currency just received at the post office. Gradinaroff fired several shots but none of the bandits were wounded. The crime occurred in front of the bank across from the post office.
Pearl Humphries, 1, of bia, remains in St Francis hospital in a dying condition after a two-vehicle collision near Monroe on the Jefferson highway at 11:50 last night. Her left jaw, right arm, and neck injuries are severe and transfusions were given as doctors feared for her life. M. M. Martin of Columbia drove the car with Miss Humphries. Claude Ford drove the other.
Washington April 25 The senate rejected a Mellon proposal on capital loss deductions without a record vote. Amendments were acted on without discussion as leaders paused debate on the income tax schedule. Several exemptions were approved including fraternal organizations and theatre tickets under fifty cents. The house previously set a forty dollar limit for item exemptions.
