Washington April 24 Lightless nights will be discontinued from Thursday night until September 1 under an order by Fuel Administrator Garfield He telegrammed state fuel administrators saying the lightless nights order is suspended at the libery loan committee request and will resume September 1 The note also urges bond purchases.
Baton Rouge April 23 Governor Pleasant grants reprieves until August 9 for Mark Peters and Chester Tyson two Black men sentenced to be hanged May 35 for complicity in the murder of five Reeves family members at Minden Louisiana on December 24 1916. The reprieves allow time to bring Henry Waller and John Long white men to trial on additional counts.
New Orleans reports that four lepers will be cured at the Louisiana leper colony in Aberville parish this year using latest scientific discoveries. One patient is a 10 year old boy and another is a 67 year old man.
