Olla Standard High school students and staff raised 1234.95 for defense bonds to buy two jeeps, achieving the goal in four days. Total stamps and bonds reached 3506.65, enough for three jeeps, with aims to add two more. Principal E. E. Sims led the effort amid ongoing scrap drive participation.

The Rev Manfred Jochem OFM chaplain opened Holy Week at St Francis sanitarium with a sermon titled Who Holds the Title urging obedience to God and warning of rebellion. He will preach The Prodigal's Father and Restored Temples of God as the triduum continues through Friday night. Sundry services and an Easter egg hunt are listed. Body of Drowned Man Recovered in Sabine River Tug Sinking
The body of George H. Thomas, 30, was recovered after the tug Pan II sank in 30 feet of water in the Sabine river canal en route to Texas City with three barges. Divers found him yesterday while N B Bowyer remained missing and the crew of seven escaped. Bowyer enlisted in New Orleans. home addresses were not available.
