The Northwest mine workers disturbances sparked by union organizers lead to multiple injuries and a fatal shooting. Reports state a guard at the scene, Hugh B. Harguard, was killed by Josephwt, who claimed the shooting was accidental, as troops were debated for deployment.
The Eckhardt and Lennon Corp of Arkansas transfers control to Eckhardt and Lennon Company Incorporated of Monroe Louisiana for 2000 dollars. Stockholders are largely Louisiana residents with timber rights on lands in Morehouse Ouachita Franklin Caldwell parishes and Paragould Arkansas. The deal includes 8000 to 12000 acres of land and a large slave plant at Monroe.
J. J. Pennell formerly of Warren Arkansas, a sawer for the Benson Lumber Company, died after a tree fell during removal of pine tops four miles from West Monroe. He was struck in the hip area, crushed, rendered unconscious, and died about 1 PM Tuesday from injuries and shock. He leaves a widow and four children and will be buried in Warren.
A detachment of twenty first infantry left Fort Wright for Butte today en route to quell the strike disturbance.

The Ouachita parish police jury rejected Caldwell & Co. Nashville offer to buy a $1,600,000 road bond issue at a special meeting. The plan promised $100,000 first year, $200,000 second and third years, $250,000 fourth, $250,000 fifth and remainder sixth year, but terms were deemed unfavorable. Jury members will wait for bond market improvements and seek a commensurate offer for the parish road program.
