The church wedding at First Methodist Church last Friday featured canopy smilax and white tapers for Miss Betty Joe Davis and Mr. Buford James Bruce. The Rev. W H Giles officiated as canaries in cages provided a unique note. Mrs Clyde Sanders sang with organist Mrs John Sholars accompanying. Candlelighters were Ann Andrews and Shirley Nichols, both in heart shaped hats.

National YWCA week to be observed locally in Monroe
Plans for National YWCA Week April 24 to 30 were announced by Mrs. T H Scott president of the Monroe YWCA. The event includes open houses and a semi annual membership meeting on April 28 with programs highlighting YWCA fellowship and service to teen girls working women and home women.
