Newt Heeger a former resident and longtime businessman in Tretten parish died at an old age. He grew his shop and planting operations opposite Menor, and owned substantial property. The body of Betts Jean Plunkett seven year old daughter of Mia and Mere Plunkett of Buckner Louisiana was recovered Friday morning by Monroe firefighters after drowning in Boouf river last Monday. The body was found near a bridge over Hoeuf river where she fell after stepping onto the side of the structure as an automobile passed. The body was taken to the Diste Funeral home with no funeral arrangements yet announced.
