David Johnson, a 22 year old Black man, was ambushed and shot on Jackson and Dixie streets in Monroe, Louisiana, near 9 pm. Officials found no clues. Samuel S Hunter, pioneer gas man of Shreveport, died at 65 at his home on Jordan Street. Hunter helped bring natural gas to Shreveport and contributed to Arkansas oil discovery. He formed Hunter & McCormick and later operated solo, with a role in regional gas lines and rice irrigation.

Allied debts to be converted into long term securities
Washington April 20 Allied governments which supported World War I loans to the United States have been told by the state department that negotiations will begin to convert several billion dollars of loans into long term securities. Officials said the start date depends on replies from allied governments and British talks on its five billion dollar debt are expected to begin soon.
