Ben Lomond California April 20 visitors to James J Jeffries training camp saw the former champion stripped to the waist and working with chest weights and punching bags. His two weeks of training have slimmed his upper body and restored much of his former elasticity as he nears a comeback. The day’s routine included vigorous weight work and a demonstration on the bag while Farmer Burns observed the loosened back muscles.

In Rochester on April 20, over 16,000 Monroe County voters shifted from Republican to Democratic, electing James S. Havens the first Democratic congressman in the Thirty-Second district in 20 years. Havens defeated incumbent George W. Aldridge 5,900 votes amid a brief 17 day campaign and a strong Republican machine.
