George McIntyre, 24, a Pullman electrical store owner and former army marksman, went on a two hour rampage on Easter Sunday killing Sheriff L. M. Parnell and Deputy Gallagher, Officer Claar, and posse member Ernest Buck. Policeman James Roberts was wounded.

Shields Kentucky April 18 Easter Sunday gunplay in this Harlan county coal camp ended the stormy career of Capt Ambrose Metcalf chief of the county police force Metcalfe 29 died en route to a Harlan hospital after being shot five times when he stopped his car in front of the Shields Cafe His wife Kathleen witnessed the shooting Two men were arrested by state police and charged with murder Warrants issued by County Judge W J R Howard named Arthur Jackson the case operator and Ford Sizemore The men were jailed in Harlan Metcalfe had a history of violent incidents as county chief since his August 1946 appointment and the force he led was created after a citizens league pressed for tougher enforcement Continued on Eleventh Page.
One person was killed and five others hurt in six separate week end accidents in the Monroe area. Ted Cowden, 23, of Brownville, died after his motorcycle struck a horse on highway 80 east of Monroe Saturday night. Injured were Joyce Camp, W. O. Bayne, Clifford Elliott, Oscar Bivins, and a few others who were treated and released. Arrests were made for reckless driving including Jack Johnson, Francis Young, and Douglas Sutton with Sutton held on $500 bond.
A storm that dumped rain and heavy snow across the northern Midwest was moving east into lower Michigan. Rain amounts were light, around a third of an inch, with freezing temperatures forecast for tonight in the upper Mississippi valley. Clear skies bring frost and a mild Canadian air mass moves toward the northern plains by midweek.

Deputy Jordan arrested Book at a Concordia parish home. Archie Gentry also failed to appear for Mann Act arraignment but was released on the same bond with Thursday reporting instructions. Both to be arraigned in federal court.
Joseph P. Haggerty, 19, a salesman and amateur pilot, remained in serious condition after an Easter morning crash at Selman field. Inspector J. M. Frazier cited stall near ground and low altitude as cause, with violation of Civil Air Regulations.
Beverly Hills April 18 Wallace Beery Hollywood lovable old rascal will be buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale tomorrow. Funeral at 10 30 a m in the Memorial Park Church of the Recessional attended by many film figures. Beery died Friday night at 64 after 36 years in pictures.

Mrs Wilma Ybarbo returns to New Bedford after release from a 20 year sentence for shooting Army Sgt John Ybarbo. Her sentence was reduced to five years and vacated by Gen Lucius D Clay. She criticizes the CID for rough treatment and fabricated statements.
Nanking reports indicate the government seeks to delay Communist surrender terms as 1,000,000 troops brace along the Yangtze front for renewed combat. Li Tsung-jen leads talks from Peiping while Tang En-po may pull troops toward Shanghai.
The 24th annual Red River Valley Improvement Association gathering opens in Shreveport with congressmen Overton Brooks Otto Passman A Leon ard Allen Henry D Larcade Wright Patman Oren Harris and Boyd Tackett in attendance. Louisiana senator Russell Long is expected to arrive as delegates from four states register for the two day event at the Washington Youree Hotel.
