Free Enterprise Cited At CSC 20 Year Club Dinner

M C Wheeler president of Commercial Solvents Corporation told about 325 employees and guests that you cannot have a free nation and a democracy without free enterprise. Fourteen CSC employees were honored for 20 years of service at the Paragon Club dinner. Wheeler announced a new savings plan to invest $1 by the company for every $2 by employees, up to a limit, to buy CSC stock or government bonds. Special guests from CSC offices attended and were seated at the head table.

Miss Louisiana Coronation Ball Plans Underway in Monroe

Planning for the Miss Louisiana coronation ball continues after the July 4 pageant in Monroe. The ball at the Paragon Club follows the finals and aims to let the public meet the new Miss Louisiana and other contestants. Miss America Donna Axum may attend. tickets cost five dollars per couple.

Help Offered To Jaycees In Miss Louisiana Pageant

The Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce receives help from local groups for the Miss Louisiana Pageant to be held in Monroe on July 24. Billy Hargiss says the Monroe-West Monroe Advertising Club Pilot Club and West Monroe Lionesses will promote the event and distribute material. Circle K Club at Northeast Louisiana State College will drive cars in the pageant parade carrying contestants.

Queen Mother Struck by Lese Majesty At Badminton

At the Badminton Horse Show in England, Queen Mother Elizabeth was hit three times by muddy straw thrown by Charles Race amid rain soaked grounds. The incident drew laughs from the queen, who remained unhurt as the straw landed with each throw.

Girl Scouts Train Silver Waters Council Leaders

Miss Mary Kay Myers of the national Girl Scouts staff will lead a training session for Silver Waters Council board members this Saturday in the Jade Room of the Paragon Club. Assisting will be Elizabeth Bloodworth from Memphis. The program, sponsored by the national board, includes Twin Cities members and guests from Farmerville Bastrop Jonesboro and other areas.

The two piano team Ferrante and Teicher will give a concert at Memorial Gymnasium Louisiana Tech at 8 p m Monday. The program Strike Up the Grande includes themes from The Apartment Exodus West Side Story and Love Themes from Cleopatra. This marks their fourth appearance under the Louisiana Tech Concert Association sponsorship with complimentary admission for new season members.
