Chicago April 17 reports say grand lodge officers and trustees of the outlaw railroad union renew their demands while a mass meeting is planned. Officials expect a call to return to work but wage issues remain unsettled with a new labor board to handle claims.
At a Monroe Chamber of Commerce mass meeting, business leaders urged a large turnout for the Louisiana Railroad Commission hearing on the sale of the Arkansas and Louisiana Midland railroad. Opponents warn junking the line would hit local trade and require a 101 mile detour via Missouri Pacific. A. J. Fernandez will present evidence against the sale in Washington Parish.
Pittsburgh Kan April 17 Judge Drew J Caren orders Alex er Howatt and other district officers of the Kansas miners union to return miners idle for a week to work Action was on motion by R J Hopkins of the state for permission to amend the petition of the state seeking a permanent injunction against the mining group.

San Remo April 17. Question remains whether the United States will be represented at the allied nations conference to meet Monday. The program aims to settle three or four major European problems disturbing the continent.

Augustus Allen a painter from West Monroe fell from a scaffold yesterday afternoon about four o clock suffering numerous bruises mainly to the head and hands. He was unconscious for a time and taken to Dr Powell's office then home. He arrived from Nebraska two weeks ago with his wife and two children and is expected to recover within a week to ten days with no internal injuries reported.
