In Santa Rosa police questioned 20 students and arrested waitress Ida Puccetti after a party honoring a 16 year old girl's birthday, where many minors drank and sang explicit songs while adults allegedly crashed in.
Three members of the Johnson family in Memphis were stricken with illness after spraying for flying ants. Co F Johnson, 44, was hospitalized in critical condition with pneumonia. his wife and five year old daughter were less severely ill from inhaling poison fumes.
A gunman burst into John Hunton's bedroom in Evanston on April 12 and woke him with a pistol. Hunton went back to sleep and woke later to report a robbery of about $200 in valuables. Police await fuller details after rest.
The Census Bureau reports eight month cottonseed crushings August 1 to March 21 at 4,497,770 tons, down from 4,595,715 tons a year earlier. March 31 stocks at mills were 330,560 tons versus 388,079 a year ago, with crude oil 1,899,075,211 pounds produced and on hand 101,921,509 pounds, refined oil 1,168,727,476 pounds produced and on hand 535,890,768 pounds. Cake and meal 1,997,856 tons produced and on hand 170,184 tons, linters 927,753 running bales produced and 262,827 on hand.
A year old police dog is suspected in the death of four year old Phylis E Gottschalk whose body was found in a muddy field near Wanakan New York An examination by S P C A agents found a mass of hair in the dog's stomach believed torn from the child's head The report comes from United Press Buffalo New York April 12.

Isleta New Mexico April 12 Efforts continue to identify 19 victims of a bus train crash near the ancient Pueblo. Names of 12 dead remain uncertain as wreckage and bodies lie across the crossing area after a Santa Fe mail train blend with the bus. Known dead include Mrs Ellis Huff and her son Kenneth Huff both of Los Angeles and F D Williams the Albuquerque bus driver. Probable dead and identified persons span California New Jersey Colorado Iowa Missouri and New Mexico with two unidentified babies and one unidentified Indian among the casualties.
In Monroe, Ouachita Parish High School Lions edge Arcadia 4 to 2 to claim their second consecutive North Louisiana baseball championship behind Pete Godwin's pitching and Roland Brown's bat. Brown homered and tripled, driving in multiple runs as Arcadia finally dented the scoreboard in the seventh and ninth innings.
In Alexandria on April 12 two Black men named Ramsey Johnson and L. J. Garner were held on theft or fraud charges after a Black woman from Natchitoches parish accused them of “dropping the pigeon.” Police say $1,280 was involved and only $15 remained with them.

Miss Bettie Sharp, 21, won a 40000 verdict in circuit court against S H Kress company for injuries from a 1927 stair fall at the Meridian store while employed there. The initial award of 25000 was deemed excessive by the state supreme court, leading to a second trial that added 15000 to the damages.
Vienna Ga April 12 United Press reports a 50 year old farmer H S Winfrey on his farm near Vienna killed two mules then set barn and home on fire before taking his own life. Neighbors found him as the dwelling burned. the barn was destroyed and the family was away.
Police linked a found body in an abandoned Adams and Clifford street car to gang violence in northern New Jersey. A driver's license in the slain man's clothing matched George F. Miller of Tea Neck and the car plates, though the victim was not yet identified. The body was discovered by children as three men fled the sedan after leaping away.
In Helena Arkansas on April 12 merchant Rufus Kearsey 39 killed Brooks Scaife 45 after a fist fight at Mrs Scaife’s home following Kearsey taking Mrs Scaife and her three children to a Marvell picture show. Kearsey reportedly fled then shot Scaife three times.
Governor Long headed from New Orleans on a tour of the sixth congressional district to promote the administration plan to bond two extra cents on the gasoline tax to raise highway funds. He planned to open the campaign at Greenburg in St. Helena parish.
New Orleans observers expected a partial lunar eclipse with naked eye viewing around 10 15 pm when Earth's shadow crosses the moon. Lamar W. York a 36 year old federal prohibition agent was shot and killed in Washington early today after arresting two men on a liquor charge one of whom, a negro, jerked away and fired striking York in the head. York a Nashville Tennessee native served with the prohibition bureau.

Her bloodstained auto was found on the military road near Arlington cemetery with upholstery stained by blood. Police pursue theory the car was driven to the scene by another person after she disappeared from Lyon Park last night.
