About 200 Louisiana State University alumni meet in Baton Rouge to discuss a successor to President Thomas D. Boyd whose resignation will be placed before the Board of Supervisors. Governor Parker and Dr. E. L. Stephens speak as names of possible successors circulate and a committee may be formed to study recommendations. This afternoon alumni tour the new university.
Homer parish awaits the sealed letter given to Rev A J Smith by James Marshall Bill Alexander hanged in Homer jail yesterday afternoon Alexander stipulated it not be opened until after death Rev Smith will read the letter before Haynesville Baptist church tomorrow night Alexander was a member of the congregation and had shown professed Christianity for six months prior to his execution.
Four masked bandits bound and gagged the plant watchman at a local printing concern in Atlanta. They locked him in a small room and fled in a car with $20,000 worth of state tobacco tax stamps.
The soldier bonus bill, approved by the house, cleared the senate finance committee with minor changes and was ordered reported to the full Senate for consideration.
Anna Boswick fifty a Philadelphia wife by day and bride by night is charged with forgery and alleged to have confessed to a blackmail scheme. She says criminals forced the confession to obtain funds as she moved between West Philadelphia and Fox Chase with hidden husband Martin and an altered Judge J Willis Martin name. Boswick claims she paid extortionists with money taken from Williams Shuman and Ralph Hawthorne while authorities pursue the case.

Manchester England April 12 Mills spinning American cotton which were to have gone back to full time operation in May are to continue on short time until the end of September.
Louisiana Public Service Commission approved water transportation rates at 60 to 80 percent of rail rates for New Orleans to Monroe and intermediates. The order fixes New Orleans to Baton Rouge at 80 percent of rail rates, north of Baton Rouge at 60 percent, and delivers store door service in city for carload deliveries while excluding carbon black houls.
New Orleans April 12 The Louisiana state supreme court restored teeth to the liquor law by upholding a $350 fine and sixty days in prison with six months more in default in a Jefferson Davis parish appeal. Justice Dawkins ruled section 980 properly invoked and that default provisions apply, affecting country parishes and school funds.
Washington reports April 1 farm labor supply at 2 percent of demand, down from 88 percent a year earlier. The Agriculture Department released the figures showing a sharp shortage affecting farming needs.
Ouachita parish high school led in literary events with 47 points while Monroe city schools earned six of eight literary places and tied for third with Homer. Over 900 contestants entered from Shreveport to the Mississippi River and as far south as Alexandria. Ruston hosted many northern supporters as events continued with tennis finals pending.
In Bunkie Louisiana Mrs Ulysses Carricutt and her six month old child were found dead in their home. Ulysses Carricutt a 37 year old carpenter and paperhanger is jailed in Avoyelles Parish on a charge of double murder. A coroner jury found the deaths to be a double murder with Carricutt denying the charges claiming his wife killed the child and he killed her. Evidence of a struggle was noted. The Carri cutts had lived in Shreveport before moving to Bunkie.
Detroit Michigan April 12 Henry Ford has been asked by William A Coomstock chairman of the Democratic State Central committee to state definitely his political intentions following his endorsement at Monday’s statewide Democratic presidential primary. The request made three days ago remained unanswered.
Professor L. H. Denman the deposed high school principal has hired the law firm Drew and Drew to appeal his summary dismissal. State Superintendent T. H. Harris is expected to investigate as more than 100 students staged a one day strike over the dismissal in Minden Louisiana.

Howe geologist at the Louisiana State University. He was sent here by Gov. John M. Parker at the request of Dr. T. W. Evans superintendent of the school.
