CAP Holds First Regular Meet in Monroe CAP
The Monroe Civil Air Patrol squadron held its regular weekly meeting at Selman Field last Friday. Captain P. C. Pipes called for high school boys ages 15 to 18 to join. The unit offers link training, meteorology, navigation, flight theory, ground school, uniforms, and insignia in the future. Regular army drill is included, but joining CAP does not make boys members of the armed services.

The Monroe squadron announces a forthcoming outing for cadet members with time and place to be announced. Last night’s meeting drew senior members and all 12 staff officers. Meetings are Fridays at 8 p m at Selman Field. Interested boys should contact Capt Pipes or Lt R L George at telephone 2359. Also a cooking tip states boiled smoked tongue should cool in its cooking liquid for at least an hour before peeling.

Dick Richmond Lands Lead In The Front Page at Mon roe
Dick Richmond is cast as Hildey Johnson in the May Mon roe Little Theatre production of The Front Page directed by Kay Crandall Causey, closing the 1947 48 season. Baird Jr vice president of the United States Chamber of Commerce will be among speakers at the Louisiana Junior Chamber state convention April 23 25 in Shreveport Baird a New York Life agent and native of Shreveport joined Jaycees in 1941 in Gladewater Texas served as director and president there led Texas Junior Chamber as State Secretary moved to Shreveport in 1944 and became Louisiana State President in 1946 he will address delegates on leadership training and state officer duties.

Arcadia High School library in Arcadia Louisiana hosts a book exhibit April 12 to 16 featuring books from major publishers on Louisiana requisition lists. Librarian Mrs. Lucille A. Daughdril says superintendents, principals, and librarians from nearby parishes are invited to attend. The display is open daily until 6 pm. Out-of-town visitors may attend all days except Wednesday April 14 when a local silver tea and viewing are scheduled for community members and parents.
