Youth Sentenced to 40 Years For Part In Murder
James H. Parkerson, 19, convicted of second degree murder in the slaying of William Shirley. The jury fixed a 40 year sentence. Fifteen Young Cubans Await Disposition
Fifteen young Cubans rescued from a helpless cabin cruiser in the Gulf of Mexico awaited immigration decisions. The Coast Guard impounded the boat Mar Afuego and seized five rifles, four carbines, two submachine guns, four pistols, 845 rounds of ammunition, a machete and a butcher knife. The group, aged 16 to 25, rented the cruiser near Baradero Beach for an overnight fishing trip. They faced hunger and thirst before being found.
