The Louisiana State Federation of Labor opened its convention in New Orleans with President E. H Williams of Shreveport delivering the opening address. About thirty resolutions on labor policy taxation legislation foreign policy and national defense will be acted on through Thursday. Proposals include extending unemployment compensation to public employees and placing them within social security. Other resolutions back Roosevelt labor policies and urge unity against labor enemies and the president.

Melbourne April 6. Miss Vida Goldstein former leader of the International Federation of Women Voters presented to Prime Minister John Curtin a proposal to name the war the Pens ive's War. She said the term shows allied governments pledge to people that the war aims a social order and spiritual values based on justice and security. Curtin plans to forward the suggestion to Washington.
