Prosecution brings forward acts of Dr Irion in an ouster hearing. Officials and witnesses detail alleged misconduct and professional breaches. The case centers on questions of ethics and fitness.
In New Orleans on April 5 Emile Senac former port captain testified about the Bayou Dupont duck hunt and related expenses. He described purchases for Dr V K Irion and a joy ride hosted by King Irion, plus repairs on the yacht Rainbow amounting to about 2500 dollars. He said Dr Irion ordered a department boat but the trip used his boat and he filed an expense, later changed to tips, and received a personal check for costs. He claimed repeated complaints about conservation boats used for state guests.
Mrs. E. PAC Phillips 25, a Birmingham arrival, was shot during a struggle with her brother-in-law D. H. Grogan over a male caller. Grogan surrendered after claiming the gun fired accidentally in the dispute. Grogan held at city jail as prognosis remained uncertain.

At the Louisiana State Federation of Labor convention the resolution censuring C. W. Swallow for using the federation name to back a Shreveport mayoral candidate was tabled by a wide margin. The body endorsed the Labor Record of New Orleans and approved routine business, including reforms to workmen's compensation and eight hour contracts.
In Baton Rouge on April 5 the Louisiana State University student council aired complaints about the new administrative system including the cut rule and elimination law. The council denounced anonymous literature against the dean of men and university officers. President Boyd took responsibility for enforcing the law, while students advocated higher scholastic standards without making them unattainable. Speakers included Roger Richardson, 0 P Carrier, W D Cotton, and Robert D Jones.
Shreveport filed with the Louisiana Public Service Commission to readjust rates on gas and electric power against Southwestern Gas and Electric Company. The move aims to reduce utility costs for residents and businesses in Shreveport.
J W Summerlin president of the Tensas Basin Levee Board and Horace Mangham traveled to Arkansas City to monitor the levee system. They report rising Mississippi water likely but no trouble expected and note gauges show a modest increase with levees in good condition and prepared for emergencies.

Walter Barkley aged about 35 was arrested in Ouachita parish by Union parish Sheriff Pat Murphy on a murder charge connected to the Friday night shooting that killed Mark Fryeal, a black man, at a Point community lumber camp. The incident follows tensions over black workers at the camp and may lead to more arrests.
Authorities in Birmingham report no progress in the assault on 18 year old Clara May Bryant daughter of a wealthy contractor. She was bound and gagged in a chair by two youths who demanded 5000 dollars and left a threatening handwriting note. The family disputes links to a recent love affair.

Dunn, en route to Black Bayou for a bullfrog hunt, was reported to have stopped at his home to call a wrecker. The cattle belonged to Alex Thomas, a resident nearby. Parish highway officer Dim Stanley issued the statement.
