The well drilled by Rev W E Neill and partners was spudded yesterday with surface casing to be set today. Located about 20 miles south of Monroe and 112 miles east of Hawkins on Cane Hill, the site attracts oil men and geologists who hope for a mammoth pool connected to the Monroe gas field. The American Petroleum Institute report shows the U S daily crude oil production rising to 1 912 400 barrels for the week ended March 29 with California up to 654 000 barrels an 8 500 increase while other regions show mixed moves Oklahoma and Texas gains Kansas up slightly North Texas up Central Texas down and Gulf Coast slipping. Imports at principal ports averaged 304 143 barrels and California oil deliveries to Atlantic and Gulf ports averaged 119 000 barrels.
New York April 8 creditors of the Associated Producing and Refining Corporation placed in receivership seek Harold Walker president and Wm Tiego vice president of the bankrupt holding company. The firm controls oil properties in the south and southwest with assets around 34 million dollars.
Shreveport April 3 The Standard Oil Company announced a 20 cent per barrel price hike for Bellevue crude oil raising the rate from 1.55 per barrel No other grades were affected
Play is encouraged as three city schools in Monroe gain new outdoor equipment. Superintendent E L Neville and officials Will Atkinson and Bernstein oversee the program with H L Gibbs directing construction. Bark dall Faulk, Georgia Tucker, and City High now feature basketball, volleyball, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, giant strides, seesaws, bars, a ladder, and other apparatus serving about 1800 children.
A. B. See, president of the See elevator company, attacks post suffrage behavior in a letter to the Lucy Stone League. He claims women drink more, smoke more, abandon corsets, wear more cosmetics, and act brazenly in public and at school, following widespread publicity in 1922.
Mrs. C. R. Stone, a 92 year old resident of Tujunga near Hollywood, watched her first motion picture in the area, recalling the early pie-throwing comedies as she finally saw a film.
Hutchinson Kansas April 3 The Kansas delegation will back Governor Jonathan M. Davis as first choice for the presidential nomination at the national democratic convention but stay unbound as needed. McAdoo followers backed Davis at the convention site but plan to switch their votes to McAdoo in New York after the usual complimentary ballot. Jouett Shouse said four fifths of the chosen delegates were McAdoo supporters.
Davenport Iowa April contest at the state convention focused on delegates for national guidance. Delegates viewed as uninstructed but leaning toward William G McAdoo while other candidates' supporters appeared in county delegations. The scene included backers for Oscar W Underwood Jonathan W Davis and Smith and Davis campaign staff.

Wisconsin primary results show two district delegates pledged to President Coolidge elected in Milwaukee where Smith delegates head McAdoo by 5 298 votes with 21 of 242 precincts missing. State totals place Smith ahead for Republican delegates at large with La Follette 154 823 to Coolidge 69 342.
An uninstructed delegation from Tennessee would not be bound to vote for any frontrunner at the national convention. The state delegation favored a possible nomination of John W. Davis of West Virginia if the occasion presented itself, a sentiment voiced in Nashville.
