Police investigate a feigned suicide attempt said to be staged by Mrs. Mariana Vega to gain a film role, after she was taken from Charles Chaplin's Hollywood apartment to a receiving hospital following the incident reported on a Saturday.
A 15 year old girl claiming ties to General Serrano and Inspector Almada says she was admitted to Charles Chaplin's Hollywood home by ruses, entered his bedroom, and was asked to leave after a brief talk. She later sought poison, collapsed in an automobile, and was taken to a hospital amid police interest.
City officials plan revised laws affecting street maintenance and public safety. The move targets traffic flow, sidewalk repairs, and code enforcement to improve downtown accessibility and curb violations. Public input sessions are scheduled in coming weeks.

Federal and local agents linked the raid to a suspected St. Louis gang with possible Springfield, Illinois ties.

He says he was warned two weeks earlier to leave Taylor and does not know his assailants. He is hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.
