David Taylor a 63 year old Houston druggist asserts he is Willie Spore the Memphis riverfront kidnapping victim from 61 years ago. He believes he and George Spore of Memphis are brothers after hearing a Memphis source’s report. Taylor says he was placed in the Odd Fellows Home and Leath Orphan Asylum as a child and later worked as a fireman aboard the steamboat Linder on the Mississippi. He recalls a pilot and family members confirming the kidnapping tale, but no proof existed to establish his identity.
Jackson Mississippi April 1 The cotton tobacco and tater belt has reopened 31 banks this year with nine in Mississippi and deposits totaling over 11 million reestablished. Banks in Arkansas North Carolina South Carolina and Louisiana also resume operations as confidence and capital rebuild.
Dr Evan O Neill Kane famed for removing his own appendix in 1919 dies at 4 a m after pneumonia. he was 72. A pioneer in cancer treatment he once performed a self operation to relieve hernia and advocated compulsory appendix removal for children and medical practice laws. He was son of General Thomas L Kane founder of Kane town and had five sons in his second marriage.
Search continued today for Gene Bennett age 36 of Union Parish believed drowned in Bayou Corney near Farmerville. Relatives, volunteers, and Monroe firemen aided the search hampered by uncertain drowning point and many bayou stumps. A net was stretched below where the boat was found to catch the body if surfaced. Bennett was a one legged fisherman, trapper and farmer. crutches found in his boat.
A Langley walkout spread to Bath and Clearwater mills in Horse Creek valley with 600 workers quitting at 9 am. Mills were closed and company stores shut. no disorder. AFL representative Paul W. Fuller went to investigate. Earlier Langley workers received pay envelopes and were urged to seek other work.
In Washington today M C Williamson of Liberty North Carolina secretary to Representative Paul and Benjamin Pettus a Washington attorney were killed in a collision of two buses at 17th and Rhode Island Avenue NW. Twelve others were injured five seriously. Williamson had served in the House rules committee since last December and is survived by a widow and a four year old son.
In Shreveport on April 1 a second suspect, Lonnie Parker, was captured in a barn near Fouke Ark after a bank robbery of the Bank of Bradley Ark where 3000 dollars disappeared. A companion, Robert Middleton, was held for questioning and another suspect jailed near Plain Dealing La. Police recovered nearly 800 dollars in money from a flour sack and five twenty dollar bills in Parker s hat. Parker offered no comment.
Louisiana state conservation officer F L Cox warns licenses must be signed and not shared. He also notes illegal fishing methods like dynamiting poisoning and gigging carry imprisonment. netting or trapping fish is banned. In Texas, H H Burns ex sheriff of Shelby County is convicted of extortion related to office fee collection and sentenced to two years.

Vestal Republican whip of the U S House died of heart disease today at the Naval Hospital Washington He collapsed two days earlier and was improving Vestal 57 served in the 65th congress from Indiana eighth district He was born January 18 1875 in Madison County Indiana a Valparaiso University graduate admitted to the bar at 21 He had been prosecuting attorney of Indiana's fiftieth judicial circuit from 1900 to 1904 He is survived by a wife and two children.
