The Edsel Ford estate settles a remaining tax claim of 50 6,284.58 to 8,810,724.27, about 17 cents on the dollar after government reductions. Eleanor Clay Ford and Edsel Ford had earlier paid 15,824,369.07 in 1944, with gifts tax and total estate and gift taxes now over 28.2 million. Evening Moscow reports a farm woman Khonda Perendzapova near Ulan Ude in the Bargazinsky Aimak region gave birth to quintuplets three boys and two girls. In Pikeville Kentucky Circuit Judge R Monroe Fields sentenced 13 year old Crawford Casebolt to life at hard labor for armed robbery. Casebolt will go to a Green Dale reform school until 21 then to Lagrange penitentiary for life. Accomplices Homer Zimmerman 19 and Mark Smith 23 were sent to Lagrange previously for the July robbery of Harold Roberts 23 of Virgie who faced the trio after stopping to give Casebolt a ride.

Jester ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to deploy as many Rangers as needed to halt sabotage and destruction of property in Nueces San Patricio Jim Wells Brooks and Duval counties.
