Turks Oust Two Russians After Soviet Warning

Monroe Bride Dies In Wreck After Wedding

Lt. Thomas McCarthy Wallace and his bride Shirley Ann McDonald Wallace perished when their car left Highway 80 west of Monroe. Mrs Wallace died from a broken neck after being thrown from the vehicle in Tremont Bottoms. Lt Wallace escaped with shock. they were en route to San Diego on their honeymoon.

Truck backs over 79 year old man in yard accident

Sterlington case reports Leander Nolan, 79, killed when a truck backed over him in the yard of Jim C Hollis in Union parish after a barbecue. Driver R E Pearson and two passengers were present. Witnesses said it was dark with no yard lights. Coroner Dr J T French called the accident unavoidable. Nolan died at Spencer clinic within 30 minutes.

Slaying Suspect Nabbed After Bus Stop Arrest

A 22-year-old Florida man, George Louis Murphy, was arrested by Monroe police on a city bus at Sixth and DeSiard Streets. He admitted shooting 17-year-old Harold Melninch in Atoka, Oklahoma after a party crash following Murphy’s Air Force discharge. Oklahoma authorities were alerted and plan pursuit.

Female Driver Causes City Car Chaos

A 14 year old girl, after brief father instruction, drove the family car in Baton Rouge. She crashed into two vehicles at North Blvd and Fifth St, backed into another, then struck a fourth at Convention and Fifth, sideswiped a parked car at Florida and Fifth, and hit a sixth two blocks away before abandoning the stalled vehicle. Patrolmen arrested her five blocks from the scene.

Bus Crash Kills Sikes Youth. Several Injured in Grant Parish

A late night crash on highway 107 near William in Grant Parish killed 19 year old Jim Allen Gregory of Sikes, injuring a bus driver and several passengers. The bus belonged to Harlan and Saller Bus Co of Jonesboro. injuries to others were treated in Alexandria and Winnfield.
