Printing of universal ration books to begin within days
The Office of Price Administration announced mass printing of 150 million universal ration books designed to handle coffee and other rations. The eight page books with colored stamps use a point or straight coupon system, and require 3 million pounds of paper and 7,500 gallons of paste.

Private Myron V. Testament of Co Veses biase ALIA is highlighted as a former journalism student and Broadway singer who now serves in Monroe AAF Navigation School’s personnel section. Born 1916 in Portsmouth Ohio he pursued journalism at Ohio State and sang with notable acts and in Broadway shows before entering pilot training and then joining Monroe. Lacy’s Career Highlights From Mining To Airfield Work
Mr Lacy started in a New Mexico mining lead shift then spent two years on Mississippi levee projects before entering road work. For the past year he has worked on flying fields with Mr Williams, completing four airfield projects this year. He recalls 13 miles of railway roadbed grading at Camp Polk as the hardest job, finished in 18 days despite 13 rainy days. On December 20 1936 he married Frances Davidson of Ruston, and the Lacys have a four year old son named Gene.

Red Cross Office Established at Monroe AAF Navigation School
James J. Wick of Erie establishes an American Red Cross field office at Monroe AAF Navigation School. The office helps connect service members with families, has raised 450 for post hospital porch furniture, and plans more furnishings from Red Cross headquarters. Wick earned a 1927 BS from the University of Pittsburgh and a 1932 master’s in educational administration. He formerly coached and taught in Erie schools.
