Negro receives $63,532 judgment in federal suit
Ozell Talton, a Monroe Negro, was awarded $63,532 in a federal court verdict against Illinois Central Railroad after being run over by a gravel car on July 8, 1947. The jury also granted $6,248 to an insurance company for compensation paid through the gravel firm.
