GALVESTON TEX Oct 20 UP A sudden squall swept through Trinity Bay trapping about 118 small boats. Coast Guard reports two bodies recovered and about 15 or 20 missing. About 20 rescued as wind 45 to 60 mph. No injuries among survivors.
Winds up to 52 mph in Monroe caused isolated power outages and minor damage. CAA reported the largest gust at 3 50 p m and noted rain was insufficient to measure. Foresters and farm officials said the brief rain failed to improve dry conditions affecting hunting, pastures, and crops in northeastern Louisiana.
Louisiana realtors urge Congress to end the fixed 4 percent rate on FHA and VA loans. At the 38th annual Louisiana Realtors Association session in Lafayette, Robert A. Holloway cited tight money and reduced housing starts. The Washington committee will ask 83rd Congress to consider flexible rates for mortgage financing.
Missouri Pacific President P. J. Neff, visiting Monroe during an inspection tour, forecast 1956 gross revenues near 306.5 million dollars, about 6.5 million above 1955, citing steel strikes and other industries. He noted new investment in MoPac territory, with 5 new industries and 48 expansions in eight months, totaling hundreds of millions in capital.

Three people including two white men and a Negro woman were killed by shotgun wounds on a rural road six miles west of Crosett Arkansas. Police searched tonight for unknown assailants with four spent shells as the only clue. George Wells 32 a Drew County farmer and Fred Watkins 47 a Hamburg construction worker died at the scene and Hattie Mae Williams about 35 a waitress died en route to hospital. Wells services set for Tuesday at Promised Land Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Watkins survived by his widow and three daughters with services Sunday at Cleveland Cemetery near Hamburg.

Three persons died in a head on collision near Winnfield Louisiana when a pulpwood truck and a car collided around midnight one half mile north of Dead. Calvin Q Cockerham Sr 35 driver of the truck Nolan Hobdey 25 driver of the car and his brother Herbert 14 were killed. Rose Marie Hobdey was critically injured and Camille Nash 22 was injured. Cockerham died in a local hospital. He lived in Dodson and funeral services were planned at Cypress Creek Baptist Church with burial at Cypress Creek Cemetery. He is survived by a widow two daughters three sons a step daughter two sisters and his mother.
Memphis October 20 reports two Idlewild school classes, guided by Principal Imelda Stanton, drafted essays on what temperance means. Some definitions amuse while others warn that alcohol is dangerous like a cobweb or gun, with a sobering tale of a man whose drinking harmed his wife.
In Warsaw Oct 20, Gomulka backed by Polish security forces seized Radio Warsaw and central party offices, claiming leadership and promising elections on December 16. Soviet troops entered Poland from East Germany as Khrushchev returned home, sparking mass strikes demanding Moscow noninterference.
In Szeged, Hungary, more than 3000 Hungarian students walked out of a Communist youth convention and formed an independent group. They Demand press freedom, abolition of capital punishment, and democratic election of university officials while turning in their Disz membership cards. Szabad Ifusag urged return to the fold.
