Crash Victim's Spine and Wife Killed in Bayou Bridge Crash
Bill Sammons 3219 was seriously injured in a Friday night automobile crash that killed his wife Leona Sammons 37. The couple, en route from Natchez to Monroe, crashed through a guard railing on the Bayou Lafourche bridge and fell about twenty feet to the bayou's west bank ten miles east of Monroe. Sammons, a Navy veteran and Ford Bacon and Davis Construction worker in Natchez, is reported in serious condition with a broken spine at St. Francis Sanitarium. Funeral services for Mrs. Sammons are incomplete pending family arrival.

A three year old boy in Freeport Texas died after a toy balloon deflated and flew into his windpipe while he attempted to inflate it. The child was Richard Lynn Rayburn, son of widow Helen Rayburn. The balloon collapsed and entered his airway.
