John McKeithen will add a new Fifth District education sales tax bill to the November special legislative session call if no state solution is found to fund teacher salary raises. True Bill Indicts Carlos Marcello for Assault on FBI Agent

A federal grand jury indicted underworld figure Carlos Marcello on a charge of assaulting and intimidating FBI agent Patrick J. Collins Jr at New Orleans International Airport after Marcello arrived from New York with his brother Joseph. Collins testified that Marcello swerved to strike him but was restrained by his brother. The indictment followed an earlier ruling of sufficient evidence by U.S. Commissioner Fritz Windhorst, while another grand jury probe was opened into the ramp confrontation.

Geneva Men State Meet In New York With Gromyko

United Nations New York AP reports co chairmen of the Geneva conferences on Indochina arranged a meeting in New York. Britain's Foreign Secretary George Brown will visit Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei A. Gromyko at 10 30 a m Saturday at the Soviet U N mission. The two nations act as co chairs in the talks.

Ouachita Parish official conducts quiet protest at board office

P. B. Mangam, assistant superintendent of Ouachita Parish schools, staged a Friday afternoon demonstration at the school board office. He wore a lapel button reading I hate ugly, focusing on a local issue rather than the draft or the Vietnam War.

Bench Collapse Near Improvised Courthouse Outburst

Electricity Service Across Bayou DeSiard Cut In Monroe

Monroe utilities manager French L Smith said a city ordinance violation led to electricity being extended across Bayou DeSiard to a house near Lakeshore. Mayor W L Howard ordered the line disconnected, noting no city approval and the need to meet planning requirements. Inabnet, leasing the across bayou property, denies involvement, while city records show no application to join the area to the city.

Partly Cloudy Skies Expected in Twin Cities Region

Forecasters predict partly cloudy to cloudy skies today and Sunday with milder temperatures. Low temperatures 55 to 60 degrees, highs 76 to 82, winds variable 5 to 15 mph.
