High winds during a Friday night thunderstorm knocked down power lines in West Monroe and caused outages in two Monroe sections. FAA at Selman Field reported a total area power failure at 10:30 p.m. as rain ceased, with lines left down in scattered zones. Line ten feeding east Monroe and the line five north of Louisville Avenue briefly went out but were restored within about 30 minutes due to lightning. Winds damaged holiday decorations downtown as showers arrived around 9:30 p.m. and subsided by 10:30 p.m. Forecast today calls for fair skies and cooler temperatures with highs 62 to 66 and lows around 39 to 47.
