Mrs Collins 72 Dies After Long Illness

Monroe resident Gertrude Collins died Friday night after a long illness. She directed Collins Convalescence Home on Jackson Street for 28 years. Funeral arrangements were under Hixon Brothers Funeral Home. Holiday Deaths Exceed 200 At Half Way Mark

Nine Negros Hurt In Area Wreck Near Epps

Nine people, all from the Murphy plantation near Epps, were injured in a four car crash on the Richland West Carroll Parish line at 6 15 p m Friday. Pic Ola Gordon 18 suffered a broken hip and was taken to a Monroe hospital. Ezell Gaines Jr 25 had minor injuries. Other occupants included Gordon's brother James Roberson 16 John ny Keith 12 Sam Allen Keith 15 and Ezell Gaines III 5 Richard Earl Gaines 3 O C Thomas 26 and Brown Day. Drivers of two vehicles were not identified. All were treated at a Delhi clinic and released except Gordon. Police said a car without tail lights prompted the collision.
