Five Young Men Enlist in Army Service at Local Station
Five young men from northeast Louisiana enlisted at the Army recruiting station opened at room 302 of the post office. Recruits are Gordon E. Sterlington Girl Wins 4 H Club Trip to National Meet
Sydney Alexander daughter of Mr and Mrs C R Alexander of Sterlington earned an all around 4 H Club honor by winning the Ouachita parish food preparation contest and a trip to the national 4 H Club congress in Chicago November 28 to December 5. The Illinois Central railroad awarded the trip after state leader Walter C Abbott announced her win. Two other Ouachita parish girls Mary Ella Sims and L Marie Bayles also earned trips for state contest wins at Baton Rouge. The trio will depart for Jackson Miss to join the Louisiana delegation led by Miss Margaret Finberg.
