Natchez on the Mississippi reviewed by Harnett Kane

Southern author Harnett Kane reviewed his book Natchez on the Mississippi on the Frances hotel terrace. The Pilot Club hosted the event with Miss Nona Martin introducing Mrs. A. D. Tisdale and Kane, who spoke of Natchez’s unmatched charm, architecture, and history, including tales of wealth, hospitality, and a hot tempered past.

At a dinner meeting R. D. Kellogg reports 142 shares of $1,000 each subscribed as Bayou DeSiard Country Club plans December organizational meeting to draft by laws and begin facility construction. A. T. Shotwell notes charter increases ownership to 150.

Club Plans Expanded Stock Offering and New Facilities

The organization moves to amend bylaws to authorize larger stock issuance and will present a deed donated by the Biedenharn family at the December meeting. Plans for a clubhouse swimming pool golf links and tennis courts at Bayou DeSiard near Loop road are to be approved, with secret membership screening continuing. In other notes, Belgian Congo orders 3,004 dozen harmonicas were placed with a local maker.
