A meeting of the L. B. Faulk post will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at the legion home to announce awards in the membership campaign. Plans will be formed to reach the district quota by December 15 and consider awarding a silver loving cup to the most valuable citizen of Monroe.
Operations at the Golson well in Ouachita Parish will resume between November 25 and December 15 after lease difficulties were resolved. The well at section 25, township 1, range 1, east about 16 miles southwest of Monroe is 5,381 feet deep and among the deepest drilled in the parish.
The Surebest Bakery at 100 South Fifth Street resumes free cooking recipe distributions inside moisture proof bread wrappers. Series Nos A and B previously issued, No C now added after housewives request. Salt rising bread returns next Tuesday. fruit cakes season begins. Hostess fruit cakes sold by orders. Popular Surebest buttered biscuits hot 10 to 11 am. Celotex dough room installed to control heat and humidity. Manager C P Brogan urges housewives to compare biscuit costs with home baking.
Yesterday the clerk recorded multiple transfers. W R Britt sold to N P Ledbetter a lot in Cole addition for 352.50 dollars. Mrs Della Malone sold to Sim E Heisler a Calhoun house and lot for 200 dollars. W A Kilpatrick leased 40 acres in section 14-16-1 east for 140 dollars and sold one half of the rain under the same property. Delia Mineyfield et al granted an option to George A Schlosser on 130 acres in sections 31 and 32-18-2 east for 130 dollars. J N Knowles trustee sold to H Y Hunt 180 acres minerals in several quarters for 325 dollars.
Rayville Louisiana November 16 Special An extension of the Rayville rural postal route No 2 to become effective December 1 has been granted. The route with extension will serve residents along roads from Rayville to Burkes crossing from the crossing to the Zebedie post office and from there to Rayville via the Burns road. Residents urged to arrange mail delivery promptly.
Barkdull Faulk grammar school wrapped up Educational Week with a one act play and poster prizes. The 6 A grade staged a pioneer country school scene with readings from old textbooks. Evelyn Ratchford won first prize for best poster. Patricia Murphy and Cullen Kirby tied for second. Book Week follows this observance.
Votes were polled for the prettiest girl and the award went to Gladys Golden of Downs ville. D Leachman won the prize for the best looking young man present. Rev R V Fulton is pastor of the community church.
The Douglass community church in Lincoln parish hosted an entertainment event Friday night to raise funds for a piano. The net proceeds totaled 50 dollars after a cake was auctioned.
Mr. Sam Michatto Jr of Monroe declares Gly-Cas a remarkable modern remedy. He attributes severe headaches and neuritis relief to Gly-Cas and says it restored his strength and energy. The advertisement frames Gly-Cas as an effective vegetable treatment from a local grocer.
West Monroe Hardware and Furniture collects food donations for the Ruston Methodist orphanage. Monroe Transfer Co will run two five ton trucks on November 26 to pick up goods from Ferriday and Tullulah en route to Monroe and Ruston. Rev. Robert Vaughan and Rev. D. C. Barr urge broad support as needs are greater this year.
Mr Sam Michatto Jr testifies at Gly-Cas trial in Phoenix Drug Company offering relief from indigestion neuritis and headaches. He says the medicine improved sleep energy and appetite and his mother also reports better health. Gly-Cas sold at 48 DeSiard street Monroe and by local druggists.
