Albert Bayles receives permission to seine rough fish in Bayou DeSiard and Horseshoe Lake from Nov 13, 1944 to Jan 13, 1945. Louisiana Conservation Dept dispatches two rescue trucks to Ouachita Parish to aid fish relocation and protect game stocks amid overabundance.
Pate is appointed to lead air freight and express operations at Delta with eyeing cargo growth. He previously served 20 months in the army air corps handling troop and freight movements at Maxwell Field and Courtland Alabama and sits on the tariff sub committee of the Air Transport Association air express committee.
Lt David J Garrett, after illness, told doctors he was fit to return to the 31st Infantry Division reconnaissance troop. On a sea shore in the South Pacific he saw a man drowning, swam out, fought the current, and brought the man to safety. The medical officer later declared both men safe and Garrett fit to resume duty. He is the son of Judge David Garrett of the Fourth Division court in Monroe Louisiana.
The Ouachita parish board of election supervisors chaired by John and Coon canvassed the election results. A large vote was cast for Republican Thomas E. Dewey while amendments 3 5 6 10 12 17 18 and 21 were defeated. Democratic ticket tabulations follow.
North Louisiana seeks to drain five million acres between the Ouachita and Mississippi rivers to bring land into production. T. H. of the Chamber of Commerce agricultural committee says poor drainage is the top postwar problem. A plan involves rerouting major streams with the National Rivers and Harbors Board backing the first step. The project would span six southeast Kansas counties and northeast Louisiana, crossing state lines, and hinges on a Congress bill authorizing Bureau of Reclamation work.
Rev G W Killens pastor of Piney Grove Church West Monroe and churches in Jonesboro and Mangham receives a 60 day leave to visit California. He is to return to his duties January 31.

Washington reports no valid cause for a cigarette shortage, citing higher demand and hoarding. Office of Price Administration enforcement chief Thomas Emerson says shortages stem from consumer selection and illicit trading, with steady action planned to curb bootlegging and price manipulation.
