Dr. T L Hood notes funding for a pumping station at West Monroe’s south levee stands at seventy one dollars, with surveys and bids soon expected.
Two Barberton Ohio girls missing since August were found hitchhiking near Winnsboro Louisiana. Deputy Sheriff C M Martin detained them after they refused local lodging. They admitted their real names Kitty Lipovsky 15 and Evelyn Brown 16. brothers arrived to escort them home. They said they had toured the Century of Progress and traveled south to the Gulf of Mexico seeking adventure.
Armistice day activities will be held today with events by two veterans organizations and Neville high school history class. Banks and some city and parish offices close part of the day though post office operations continue. At 9 45 this morning the Neville history class presents a 100 voice choral program at the Paramount theatre under Miss Clara Hall with support from the Frank P Stubbs Memorial Bible class.
Mrs. Ella Caldwell operator of a general mercantile store in Gilbert Louisiana was robbed of 282 dollars by a man after closing hours. She was walking home about a quarter mile when a pushing blow knocked her down in a wooded area and the purse was taken. Darkness prevented identification of the assailant. The robbery occurred around 9 pm.

August Pabst, 30, son of Frederick Pabst of Milwaukee, died after leaping from a Great Lakes naval reserve plane that failed its motor and crashed near the Palwaukee airport. His companion John Santas suffered severe burns. both pilots were on a routine night flight.

Former New York mayor Jimmy Walker says he will write a weekly column for the Sunday Dispatch starting November 18. He will discuss any subject he chooses and declined to reveal his pay.

Larry Compton about 33 was arrested at Arcadia by Secret Service operatives. He was arraigned here before United States Commissioner Al len B. Guthrie on possessing and passing counterfeit federal reserve notes of the Federal Reserve Bank at New York. Bond set at 2500, unprovided, jailed in Ouachita parish. Compton linked to a regional ring. five arrests reported in northeast Louisiana.

Mickal, 20, a Syrian-born Mississippian, would sit Monday with $10 per diem on the senate voting board. The mass meeting call and theater ceremony mocked foes of Long, including J. Y. Sanders Jr. and Gov. Allen.
Ellen Wilson McAdoo granddaughter of President Wilson and Ralph Lopez de Onate film actor married quietly in Albuquerque with her father Senator McAdoo's blessing after licensing delays and initial objections. The couple departed by air for an unannounced destination amid family controversy over alimony and heritage questions.
The Monroe municipal zoo is being moved from Forsythe park to Bernstein park with most animals already at the new site. Turtles and alligators may move Monday or Tuesday, then fencing remnants will be salvaged to complete the relocation near the riverbank. The big black bear was transported in its house on rollers as part of the transfer.

A young man named W. A. Neal was struck on the head with a blunt instrument in a restaurant near the Missouri Pacific passenger depot late last night. Neal was taken to St. Francis sanitarium by ambute lance. the alleged assailant fled the scene and is at large.
