Stagg to Speak at Northeast State Baccalaureate

Trooper Death Trial Delayed in Jena Murder Case
In Columbia Louisiana on May 24 special Judge W M Mouster granted defense a continuance for Luther Pearson and Martin Jackson charged with the murder of State Trooper Alis Floyd and his son Donald Floyd near Jena on February 24 1952. The trial moved from La Salle parish to a special jury term beginning June 2 after a medical commission was appointed to examine Pearson.

France Seeks Guarantees From America in Europe Talks
Paris May 24 The French cabinet demanded new guarantees from the United States and Britain to ensure France would not be left alone in Europe with a strong Germany and to curb Yankee influence in North Africa and Indo China. The demands hinge on parliamentary backing and could affect the ratification of the West Germany contract and the European Army treaty next week. France also seeks U S support in its world position and in Tunisia and other African possessions.

Ambulance Collision In West Monroe. No Injuries
An ambulance carrying 76 year old Rance Jackson to Charity Hospital collided with a car at North Seventh and Cypress Streets in West Monroe at 3 15 p m. No injuries were reported. Driver of the ambulance John Davis 28 of Ruston said the siren sounded late. Robert Murphy of West Monroe drove the other vehicle and said he had a green light.

Escapes Twice From Monroe City Jail
L. L. Pettis serving sentences for profanity intoxication and resisting arrest escaped from Monroe City Jail twice in one night. River boat blast kills caretaker and injures woman
A river houseboat explosion about 10 miles north of here on Wall's Lake at 4 30 p m killed veteran boat caretaker Abercrombie 46 of Monroe and injured Louella Wade 49 of West Monroe. The blast shattered the boat and damaged a nearby dock.
