Milton Tornado Leaves Milton, Florida Devastation

A Florida tornado outbreak killed 15 and wounded many as Milton and nearby areas suffered extensive damage. A temporary morgue was set up in Milton, with 60 treated and 19 seriously hurt shifted to Pensacola hospitals. Power lines failed and a 350 foot microwave tower toppled as crews and volunteers searched for victims.

Farmerville man shoots three in grocery store incident

In Farmerville, Joseph Bilberry shot his former wife Mary Lee Bilberry and a bystander, then injured himself with a .22 revolver. Pat Watson was also wounded as others were treated at a Monroe hospital. all injuries reported as minor.

Easter Seal Parade Set Today In Ouachita Parish

Canvassers will visit homes in Monroe West Monroe Sterling and surrounding areas to sell Easter Seals. Soviets Put US Mission Under Guard

Soviet authorities barred all American mission travel outside Potsdam and sealed the headquarters with guards after East German police fired on a U S mission vehicle. Passes from the Russians might be needed for any movement outside Potsdam and possibly over East German territory toward West Berlin. Colonel Ernest von Pawel reportedly met with the Soviet forces chief of staff in a guard escorted briefing.

Two-Year Steel Contract Okayed in 1963 Labor Pact

The agreement ends the threat of a strike until August 1963 with a right to reopen on wages pensions and other matters. It reflects industrial cordiality after tense relations and aims to ease job fears from automation through extended paid vacations and improved benefits. Five-week vacations for 25-year workers rise to six weeks by 1964 with incremental boosts for other tenure groups.
