Dr H C Brearley of Peabody College Nashville will be guest lecturer on March 14 at Northeast joining other state colleges in planning an annual institute. He will address a student faculty assembly at 9 50 a m conduct a public seminar at 3 p m and speak to a broader audience during a three meeting stay on campus.

In the college auditorium at 7 30 p m this will be Dr Brearleys second visit to Northeast. In spring 1953 he spent two days here as principal speaker for a sociology conference on community problems. The guest lecturer was chief consultant last year for the Institute on Family Living held in Nashville by the Southern Baptist Convention. He is widely traveled and a popular institute leader.

Baton Rouge reports state police Superintendent Francis Grevemberg warns hitchhikers pose a highway menace as warm weather returns. Cotton futures slide amid heavy liquidation and foreign selling
New York cotton futures fell sharply last week with losses of 3.00 to 4.05 a bale as distant delivery months liquidated amid foreign selling and suspected export subsidy fears. Exports totaled 83,000 bales for the week, while a $154 million U. S. grant to Italy supported demand for about 780,000 bales.

Fifth Opera Season to Open At Northeast State
Northeast State will open its fifth opera season on March 11 with Hansel and Gretel in English. The student cast, chorus, and orchestra are led by Joe Barry Mullins.
