Sinon Sims of Oak Grove and Harry Anders, Winnsboro attorney, escaped serious harm Friday night when their car overturned three times at a S intersection five miles south of Delhi. Anders drove to Delhi for medical care after minor cuts. both men were en route to attend Sims' district attorney campaign event and had spoken earlier at a meeting in Basil.
London dispatches say Russia ships "knocked down" submarines from Europe to Pacific bases. Submarines of various sizes are being hastily reassembled in the east to meet any emergency. Moscow fears Japan encroachments and seeks larger east coast defenses.
President Roosevelt's revenue estimates prompt a tax talk as Burns supports a profits levy. House Ways and Means members reportedly back the idea. Byrd urges a constitutional amendment to tax bonds to broaden tax base. Morgenthau remains confident amid possible campaign year opposition.

In Akron Ohio on February 29 the Central Labor union named a 25 member committee to call a general strike if force is used to break the Goodyear Tire and Rubber blockade. A 13 member sub committee will notify the sheriff mayor police chief and county prosecutor of labor sentiment and resolve.
Gov Harold Hoff man rejects Col Norman Schwarzkopf claims that self styled Hoff man agents approached state troopers with promises and threats. Hoff man calls the Lindbergh kidnapping the most bungled case in police history and questions Hauptmann’s sole guilt while insisting on reopening the investigation and ongoing reports to Schwarzkopf.
Shreveport, Feb. 29. Alice Lee Grosjean, state supervisor of public accounts, announced a new system regulating crude oil and petroleum product movement. She said all carriers must carry an invoice showing date purchaser name seller origin and destination with amount and nature of the commodity to prevent hot oil.
A hornets nest mailed from Jackson Georgia to Penelope Texas is believed to ease asthma. The package, sent by Jennie Hightower to Willie Newton, traveled between Jackson and Penelope, with the method of obtaining the nest undisclosed.
In Harrisonburg Louisiana a saloon brawl after two political meetings ended with Town Marshal Pat Gibson shooting Meredith Franklin and injuring a bystander. Franklin and a youth were treated. the attacker knocked down by a local case proprietor.

Tokyo March 1 Sunday report that Premier Okada concealed himself for three and a half days during a revolt. Witnesses say he may have hid in the maid servants’ quarters at the official residence after an assassination scare and the palace was closed to presses.
A gold clause case reaches the U.S. Supreme Court as the trustee of the St. Louis Southwestern Railway appeals a lower court ruling. The suit seeks $42 on a $25 coupon payable in gold or its Dutch guilder equivalent, with federal courts ruling Congress did not bar such collection. The Anglo-Continental Treuhand of Liechtenstein benefited from the lower court decisions.

In Washington on February 2 Senator Logan of Kentucky, chairing a sub committee on the Metcalf inquiry, called an investigation into Major General John Hagood's removal from command of the eighth corps area "futile." He said, "What's the use of investigating what everybody knows," but he stopped short of full commitment on Senator Metcalf's Republican resolution.
