RAYVILLE Special report says Richland Parish logged its 10th and 11th highway fatalities of 1965 as a westbound pickup struck a bridge abutment on U.S. 80 one mile east of Holly Ridge at 5:45 p.m. The driver Harry Dudley Rogers of Columbus Georgia and passenger Ray S. Thornhill of Transylvania East Carroll Parish were killed. The truck, owned by Thornhill, split in two on impact over Big Creek. Bodies were taken to Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville and Gay's Funeral Home Lake Providence with funeral plans to follow.
In Santo Domingo four hours of darkness fighting left no American casualties according to U S military sources while rebels deny firing on U S troops The incident followed a Friday night clash near Ciudad Nueva as the Inter American Peace Force and a mission from the Inter American Human Rights Commission investigate.

Murray Humphreys, 66, reputed associate of Al Capone and successors, was arrested by FBI agents at Norman railroad station. Held on a Chicago grand jury bench warrant with a 100000 bond, he was moved to the Oklahoma County jail after failing to appear. His former wife lives on a farm near Norman.
Viet Cong broadcast lists Maxwell D. Taylor and other top U S officials in South Viet Nam on a passing list. The move followed the execution of U S Army sergeant Harold G. Bennett and the bombing of a floating river restaurant with 42 people hurt or killed. The list also includes Deputy U S Ambassador Alexis Johnson and General Westmoreland. Meanwhile Viet Cong forces overran hamlets near Saigon and Laos border, prompting fears of a major offensive as U S forces report air and ground counteractions and mounting casualties.
The United States said Saturday night that Red terrorist actions and threats in South Vietnam will bolster American resolve to aid the embattled South Vietnamese. The State Department cited the execution of Sgt Harold G Bennett and the My Canh restaurant bombing in Saigon as brutal acts by Hanoi and its Viet Cong allies.

Archiball news reports Mangham deputy marshal J L Hendrix, 62, was killed late Saturday night when struck between an ambulance and a car driven by Bart Nelson of Rayville. He died at Ball and Ellington Clinic in Rayville. Glens Johns of Rayville also was struck but suffered only minor injuries.
In Miami Beach a rally of about 2,000 at Dinner Key Auditorium adopted a manifesto calling the Baptist World Congress to repudiate delegates from Iron Curtain nations as agents of communism and betrayers of Christianity. Evangelist Carl McIntire said he would present it to the congress during its meetings alongside 30,000 attendees in the Orange Bowl. The protest was organized by the International Council of Christian Churches led by Rev Mel Tilllire. The congress is to adjourn Wednesday.
In the third week of the Monroe Morning World and News-Star sponsored Newspaper National Snapshot Awards, entries were judged with variety. First place went to Jack Miller of 103 Fairlane Prize, West Monroe, for a photo of a welder at work with sparks flying from a torch.
Second place Syl Breard and third Madge Kelly are cited with titles Reptilian Repose and It s A Crazy Up-side-down World. Fourth place Frances Grant’s Cocker Spaniel study is noted. Weekly prizes start at 19 dollars with four top entries advancing to grand prizes and a national contest with trips and cash awards.
