Gerald Thompson a 25 year old tool maker confessed to police that he ravished Mildred Hallmark 19 and left her to die in a cemetery roadside ditch after offering a ride in his car. He described knocking her unconscious in the rain and dumping her body in the ditch.
A 25 year old black man R D McGee was lynched near Wiggins Mississippi for an alleged attack on a white farmer's 11 year old daughter. A second unnamed black man was whipped and released after an insult to a white woman. The mob dispersed as authorities investigated the killings and injuries.
