Tigers Split Twinbill From A's. Set 9 Hour Playing Record

Rookie Dave Duncan homered to start the 19th inning as Kansas City beat Detroit 6 to 5 in the second game of a nine hour doubleheader that eclipsed the AL mark. Detroit won the opener 7 to 1 on a bases loaded single by Bill Heath with two out in the ninth. The doubleheader lasted 9:05, breaking the previous 8:04 record set in 1965.
