Two aggravated battery cases cleared by Monroe police
Monroe police arrested Johnnie Rogers Tolbert 40 of Powell Alley after he allegedly hit a woman in the head with a bottle. Carrie Brumfield 100 Powell Alley was reported in serious condition from a head wound. Carrie Beaudoin 37 of Ouachita Avenue was booked for battery with a shotgun after she allegedly shot Roger Garver 34 of Ouachita Avenue in the left leg. Garver was treated at Conway Memorial Hospital. Beaudoin is jailed on $500 bond.

Woman booked on two charges after hotel fight in West Monroe
Ann Telano of 506 Harper Street West Monroe was booked on two charges after a fight at a local hotel. Officers say she disturbed the peace by public drunkenness and damaged property after chasing a man out of the lobby and through a plate glass door. She was treated for facial and limb lacerations at Conway Memorial Hospital before jail. Bond set at 240 dollars. to face Monroe municipal court.

Monroe Woman Confesses in Ring Theft Case
Monroe police report an 18 year old woman, Carolyn Tripp, confessed to stealing a solitaire engagement ring and a five diamond wedding band while babysitting June 9. The rings, belonging to Janey Moreland, were found under a carpet at the Tripp home. Tripp was charged with felony theft and released on bond.

Northeast Hosts Largest Youth Music Festival This June
Kirby Moo ney of Centralia Illinois and Sharon Peters of Monroe Louisiana help direct junior-senior high baton twirlers at Northeast Louisiana State College. They assist Barbara Eminger national champion from Georgia next week in baton twirling. West Monroe officers investigate a $40 purse theft reported Friday morning. Laura Smith of 809 Lazarre St. said her purse in the kitchen contained $67 but only $40 was taken between Thursday night and Friday morning.
